Advanced Chemistry= labs, library open in Ravenshaw

Cuttack: The Department of Chemistry, Ravenshaw Universit= y in collaboration with GNM Foundation (Prof. Gokulanand= a Mahapatra Foundation) inaugurated its much-awai= ted Advanced Organic Chemistry Laboratory, Analytical Chemistry Laboratory and = PG Seminar Library last month.
Former Vice Chancellor of BPUT, Dr. Omkar Nath Mohanty inaugurated = the well-equipped laboratories and library which were established to commemorate the rich contribution of renowned scientist and academician Prof. Gokulananda Mahapatra in = the field of chemistry. Former Vice Chancellor of Ravenshaw University Sri Devdas Chhotray, Prof. Gokulananda Mahapatra him= self, HOD Chemistry Dr. Ratan Kumar Dey, all faculty members and many students of the department were also present on the occasion.
It may be mentioned here that the GNM Foundation established by Prof. Gokulananda Mahapatra, wh= o was also a former professor and head of the department of Chemistry in the erstwhile Ravenshaw College, undertook extensive renovation of the organic chemistry laboratory of the department.= In addition, the foundation also helped to renovate the PG seminar library and contributed the library with many valuable books worth lakhs of rupees for the benefit of students. Now, students of the chemistry department can avail the facility of using modern and advanced chemistry laboratories and library. This new establishment is considered as a highly successful step in the ambitious laboratory modernization programme as envisioned by Sri Chhotray, said Dr. Dey.
Soon after the grand inauguration, a small function was held in the Heritage Hall of Ravenshaw University. It was attended by many scientists and academicians of repute like Dr. Girijanandan Mahapatra, Dr. Bijay Kuma= r Patnaik, Dr. Pravat Kumar= Mishra, Dr. L. N. Patnaik= , Dr. S. Lenka, Dr. S. Samal= , and Dr. J. P. Das.  All faculties and students= of the department also attended the function.
