Department of Information Technology Management

1. Introduction
To meet the challenging needs of IT industry in 21st century, the premier College of the state has introduced a three year degree programme leading to B.Sc(ITM) Information Technology Management under self financing scheme since 2000-2001. & M.Sc(ITM), a two years Master’s Degree in Information Technology Management in the year 2006-07. The course aims at preparing students to pursue professional careers in Software Design, E-Commerce and Network Engineering. The University shall be offering this as a full time course in collaboration with Star Computer Institute Pvt. Ltd. 

2. Objective

  1. To train and educate professionals of outstanding ability who can become leaders in IT industry.
  2. To carryout advance research and development in leading edge areas in Hardware and Software which can be useful over a long term basis.
  3. To develop and promote national and international linkage by way of adjunct faculty, partnership in research student exchange, credit transfer and joint degrees.
  4. To work for the creation and development of database and associated software and courseware for all application so as to ensure future availability of newer technologies for English, Hindi, Oriya and other Indian languages.

3. Computer Laboratory
The computer lab is equipped with the latest technology based computers with internet facility. The practical classes are conducted on basis of one computer for each student. The faculties and as well as lab assistance are available for proper guidance and monitoring during practical classes. The students get most ideal ambience for developing application and learning different technologies on computers.

4. Library
The kanika library of the Ravenshaw University has a huges collection of books on relevant subjects besides this, our ITM Dept. has the latest collection of computers and management books exclusively meant for our students.

5. Teaching Methodology
Concept Session : The regular theory class for the subject are conducted to make the student understand basis concepts of the subject. These session build a strong foundation for the related subjects.

  • Practical Session: The regular laboratory classes for the subject are conducted which enables the students to learn the practical aspects of the subject understood in the concept session. More importantly the student uses the concept through regular practice.
  • Projects: The students get an opportunity to undertake live projects for some of the important subjects. This enables the students to undergo a complete cycle of learning process. The project makes the student more application oriented and know how to use the knowledge in real life situation. The project mentioned in the course outline will be done at their own cost.
  • Seminars: An expert or an academic conducts a seminar in regular intervals. The students get an exposure to latest technologies, theories and better understanding for the related topics.

6. Placement
Placement facilities/Assistance are available through campus interviews. Our students have been selected in leading IT software companies such as Torry Harries Business Solutions, Wipro Spectramind, Convergys, Wipro Technologies, Infosys, hp, Zenpact, Satyam etc. to name a few.

B.Sc(ITM)

1. Eligibility 
Candidates who have passed/ appeared the Higher Secondary Examination (10 +2) in any discipline ( Arts/ Science / Commerce) from an institution recognized by CHSE, Orissa / 3 year Diploma in Engineering from Council of Technical and Vocational Education or equivalent, Orissa are also eligible.

2. Selection

The merit list will be done on the basis of Entrance Examination. 

3. Students’ Strength
128(One Hundred Twenty Eight)

4. Course Fees
Rs 25000/- per year

Apart from the course fees motioned above, a student has to pay seasonal fees, Examination fees, Seminar Fees at the time of admission/readmission.

A student normally admitted to this course shall have to complete it. In case he/she desire to discontinue the course in the middle, he/she will have to forfeit the amount already deposited in the university and will have to deposit the balance of the course fees for the rest of the Years before taking University leaving certificate.


5. Candidate selected for admission have to pay the course fees for Rs25,000/- in shape of crossed demand draft in favour of Ravenshaw University payable at SBI, City Branch, Cuttack
