A number of scholarships, prizes, medals and endowments have been created by generous individuals to perpetuate the memory of their near and dear ones.
1. Department of Chemistry
- Savitri Padmanavan Trust Fund Award
This award was instituted in the year 1979 with an endowment value of Rs.10,000/-. The award goes to the best Chemistry (Hons.) student and also the best girl student securing highest marks in M.Sc. (Chemistry) Examination.
This was instituted by Dr. S. Y. Padmanavan, ex-Director, Central Rice Research Institute, Cuttack in the memory of his daughter Savitri Padmanavan, who was a student of M.Sc. (Chemistry) class of this University.
- Narayanee Mohanty Prize
This prize was instituted in the year 1984 by Smt. Chinmayee Pattanaik in memory of her sister Narayanee Mohanty. The award goes to the student securing highest marks in M.Sc.(Chemistry)
The prize money is generated out of the fixed deposit of Rs. 2000/-
- Pandit Gadadhar Tripathy memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was instituted by Prof. R. C. Tripathy, former Professor of Ravenshaw College in the fond memory of his father.
This scholarship with an endowment of Rs.11,000/- is awarded to two Post-Graduate M.Sc. (Chemistry) students on the basis of merit, for prosecuting their studies.
- Ranendra Narayan Praharaj Prize
This award with an endowment of Rs. 5,000/- was instituted by the Demonstrator Association of former Ravenshaw College to perpetuate the memory of Late Ranendra Narayan Praharaj who was a Demonstrator in the department of Chemistry. Sri Praharaj while serving in Ravenshaw College died in an accident on December 20, 1992.
The prize is awarded to the student securing highest marks in P.G. Part-I Chemistry Examination.
- Alumni Research fund award
This award with an endowment of Rs. 20,000/- was instituted by Sri Sukumar Aditya in 1979 to perpetuate the memory of Dr. Balabhadra Prasad, former Head of the Department of Chemistry.
The award was intended to support the Research scheme of a young Teacher in Chemistry.
2. Department of Physics
- Ram Raj Ram Prize
This prize was installed by Smt. Dulari Devi and Smt. Ambika Devi in the year 1996 with an endowment value of Rs. 10,000/-. The award goes to the student securing highest marks in Physics (Hons)
This was instituted by Smt Ambika Devi and Smt. Dulari Devi to perpetuate the memory of their father, Ram Raj Ram.
- Aswini Kumar Mohapatra Memorial Prize
This prize was installed in the year 1997 by Smt. Gita Mohapatra in memory of her husband Prof. Aswini Kumar Mohapatra with an endowment value of Rs.3000/-.
The prize is awarded to the student securing highest marks in M.Sc (Physics).
3. Department of Botany
- Botany Staff Scholarship
This scholarship of Rs. 3000/- was installed in the year 1987 by the members of the staff of Botany Department.
The scholarship goes to the student securing highest marks in M.Sc. Botany Examination.
4. Department of Geology
- Gyana Ranjan Mishra Award
This prize was installed in the year 2006 with an endowment of Rs. 30,000/-. The award goes to the student securing highest marks in Final year B.Sc. Geology (Honours) from Ravenshaw University.
The award was instituted by Sri Patitapaban Mishra and other students of 1993 Geology (Honours) batch of Ravenshaw College to perpetuate the memory of Gyan Ranjan Misra who died in 1995.
5. Department of Zoology
- Bipin Bihari Das Memorial Prize
The prize was installed in the year 2007 with an endowment of Rs. 10.000/-. The award will go to two students securing highest marks and second highest marks in P.G. Part-I (Zoology) Examination alongwith a Running Cup and the students should continue in P.G. Part-II (Zoology) Course in Ravenshaw University.
The award was instituted by Dr. (Mrs) Nirupama Das, former Reader in Zoology of Ravenshaw University to perpetuate the memory of her father, Bipin Bihari Das.
6. Department of Mathematics
- Dr. B.B.Mishra Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was instituted in the year 2003 with an endowment value of Rs.80,000/-. One scholarship goes to the best P.G Part-I Mathematics student who gets a sum of Rs.100/- per month till the completion of his M.Sc. studies and another scholarship of Rs. 150/- goes to another student of P.G. Part-II student securing highest marks in Mathematics.
This scholarship was installed by Prof. R. K. Kar, former Principal of Ravenshaw College to perpetuate the memory of his father-in-law, Dr. Brajabandhu Mishra who was the Professor of Mathematics of Ravenshaw College.
7. Department of Political Science
- Amarshi Parija Memorial Prize
This award was installed in the year 1987 with an endowment of Rs. 2,100/-. The award goes to the student securing highest marks in Political Science (Hons).
This prize was instituted by Sri Subrata Tripathy to perpetuate the memory of Amarshi Parija
8. Department of Oriya
- Lavanyabati Smruti Puraskar
This award was installed in the year 1987 with an endowment of Rs. 3,000/-. The award goes to the student securing highest marks in Oriya (Honours).
The award was instituted by Pramila Nayak in memory of her sister.
9. Department of Hindi
- Dr. Tarini Chandra Das (Chidananda) Award
This award was installed in the year 2003 with an endowment of Rs.7,100/-. The award goes to the student securing first and second position in M.A. (Hindi) Examination.
This award was instituted by Dr. Tarini Chandra Das, former Professor and Head of the P.G. Department of Hindi, Ravenshaw College.
10. Department of English
- Kalpana Das Memorial Prize
This award was installed in the year 2001 with an endowment of Rs. 20,000/-. The award goes to the students securing First, Second and Third positions in English Debate.
This was instituted by Dr. Ghanshyam Das, Ex-Director, Higher Education, Orissa to perpetuated the memory of this wife, Kalpana Das.
- Prabha Lal Memorial Prize
This prize was installed in the year 2004 with an endowment of Rs. 2,500/-. The prize goes to the best graduate in English (Hons) and Economics(Hons).
This was instituted by Jagadish Lal to perpetuate the memory of his wife Prabha Lal.
11. Department of Philosophy
- Jadumani Satapathy, Durga Devi Gold Medal
This medal was installed in the year 1998 with an endowment of Rs. 5,600/-. The prize goes to the student securing first position in M.A. (Philosophy) Examination.
This was instituted by Dr. Dharani Ranjan Satapathy, former Head of the Department of Philosophy in memory of his parents.
12. Department of Commerce
- Sudipta Mishra Memorial Prize
This prize was installed in the year 1998 with an endowment of Rs. 2,000/-. The award goes to the best +2 Commerce student of Ravenshaw Junior College.
This was instituted by Lingaraj Mishra, Grand-father of Sudipta Mishra to perpetuate the memory of his grandson.
13. Science Society
- Amarendra Prasad Palit Memorial Prize
This prize was installed in the year 1979 with an endowment of Rs.2,000/-. The award goes to the student writing best science fiction. This was instituted by the relatives of Mr. Amarendra Palit to perpetuate his memory.
- Rajendra Prasad Mohanty Award
This prize was installed in the year 2003 with an endowment of Rs.25,000/-. The award goes to the best science graduate of Ravenshaw University with a Running Cup.
This was instituted by his wife Mrs Salila Mohanty to perpetuate the memory of her husband who lost his life while fighting valiantly with a group of anti-socials.
14. College Union
- Dr. Parija Bursary Fund
This award was installed in the year 1979 with an endowment of Rs. 10,000/-. The award goes to poor and meritorious students of Ravenshaw College.
This was instituted by Sri L.I. Parija, former Chief Secretary of Orissa and his brother, Sri P.R. Parija, sons of Dr. P. K. Parija to perpetuate the memory of their father who was the Principal of Ravenshaw College.
- Radhakrishna Sahu Memorial Fund
This award was installed in the year 1970 with an endowment of Rs. 1,000/-. The award goes to poor students during their admission.
This was instituted by Sri Radhakrishna Sahu himself for helping the poor and meritorious students during admission.
- Dulari Devi, Nirmala Devi and Ambika Devi Scholarship
This scholarship was installed in the year 1996 with an endowment of Rs.10,000/-. The award goes to the student securing highest mark in Humanities.
This was instituted by Dulari Devi, Nirmala Devi and Ambika Devi of College Square to perpetuate their memory.
- Dr. Sadasiv Misra Memorial Rotary Award
This award was installed in the year 2001 with an endowment of Rs. 7,000/-. The award goes to the student securing highest mark in B.A. (Honours) Examination.
This award was instituted by the Mid-Town Rotary Club of Cuttack to perpetuate the memory of its past Rotary District Governor Dr. Sadasiv Misra.
- Govinda Chandra Mohanty Memorial Prize
This award was installed in the year 2002 with an endowment of Rs. 5,500/-. The award goes to the student securing highest marks in M.Phil Examination of Ravenshaw University.
This prize was instituted by Sri Sundar Rao, former Controller of Examinations of Ravenshaw College to perpetuate the memory of his father-in-law who was a social worker.
- Radha Mohan Memorial Prize
This award was installed in the year 1984 with an endowment of Rs.2,000/-. The award goes to the best all rounder lady student of the University.
This prize was instituted by Smt. S. L. Das to perpetuate the memory of her husband, Radha Mohan.
- Prof. J. N. Mohanty Award
This award was installed in the year 2003 with an endowment of Rs. 25,000/-. The award goes to poor and meritorious students of the University in the form of text books to be purchased in lieu of money.
This award was instituted by Prof. Jagannath Mohanty, former Professor of Education of Ravenshaw College.
- The Borasambar Senapati Prize
This award was installed in the year 1934 with an amount of Rs.600/-. The award goes to the best debater of the University.
This prize was instituted by the Raja of Borasambar province. The money was raised on the occasion of the farewell of Sri Nilamani Senapati, I.C.S. the then Deputy Commissioner of Sambalpur Division, who in turn handed over the money to Ravenshaw College to create an endowment.
Now this prize has been equated with the Chancellor’s Debate. The prizes have been enhanced to Rs.5,000/-, Rs.3,000/- and Rs.2,000/- respectively for First, Second and Third position holders in English Debate.

- Woodburn Prize
The fund for this was created in the year 1899 by Rai Bahadur Jogesh Chandra of Cuttack to perpetuate the name of Sir John Woodburn, a Lieutenant Governor of Bengal. It is administered by the District Magistrate of Cuttack who in consultation with Principal of the college awards annually out of the income from the fund a prize of the value of about Rs.15/- to a student of the college securing the highest percentage of marks at the B.A. and B.Sc. University Examinations taken together.
