Sibabrata Das, from Cuttack, Odisha earned his BA degree from Ravenshaw (Autonomous) college.  He obtained his MA, MPhil and PhD degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Currently he is a Professor of Geography at Ravenshaw University, Cuttack. He was also a Professor at Gangadhar Meher University, Sambalpur for a short stint during 2020 and 2021.  Prior to joining Ravenshaw in 2010, he served on the faculty of Department of Geography, B.R. Ambedkar College, University of Delhi during 2007-2010. He has been actively engaged in research and teaching in the areas of population, health and development. His research so far has involved the use of large-scale primary and secondary data. He has published research papers in reputed journals and presented papers in various national and international conferences including of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP) and Asian Population Association (APA). His recent published research articles are concerned with issues related to Reproductive and Child Health, education, regional development and urbanisation. Apart from teaching and research he has also discharged his duties in several academic administrative positions including Head of the department, Hostel warden, Assistant controller of Examinations, Coordinator of Equal Opportunity Cell and Dean Student’s Welfare in the institutions he served. While at Gangadhar Meher University, he was also associated with the Centre of Excellence on ‘Odisha Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology’ as its first coordinator and Principal Investigator. Currently, he holds the position of Chief Warden of hostels and Professor-in-charge of Mo College Abhijan in Ravenshaw university.
