The Odia Department of  Ravenshaw University offers Under Graduate, Post Graduate M.Phil and Ph.D. Programmes. The courses, number of seats and eligibility criteria for each course/program is given below :

Bachelor in Arts

Seat Availability :

  • Total Seat – 64

Eligibility :

Minimum 50% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination (Higher Secondary Science) without the mark in extra optional, if any. 

Master in ARTS

Seat Availability :

Eligibility :

Admission into M.A. ODIA  requires at least a second class honours with minimum 50% marks in the Odia Honours / or a minimum 50% marks in Odia as elective along with 50 % aggregate marks from a UGC/AICT recognized institute at Graduation level.

Those who have passed the Three-year Degree Course Examination from a University/Institution (situated outside the state of Odisha) where provision of teaching in Honours does not exist, will be eligible to apply for PG course provided they have taken the examination in the concerned subject with minimum of 4 papers/24 credits carrying at least 400 marks, subject to the fulfillment of the minimum eligibility condition as laid down time to time by the University.

The merit list for admission into PG courses will be prepared on the basis of performance of the candidate in the entrance test and career.

Master in Philosophy (M.Phil)

Seat Availability :

  • Total Seat – 05

IMPORTANT:

A student who was earlier admitted/ has passed one Postgraduate course in one subject from Ravenshaw University will not be allowed to apply for admission into another Undergraduate/ Postgraduate course in this University. If any such violation is detected later, the admission will stand cancelled.

Ph.D.:

The seats are declared before admission depending on the vacancies available with the supervisors. The department holds an entrance test every year around May and the qualified candidates are called for an interview. Final selection of the candidates is done based on their performance in entrance and interview. JRF / NET qualified candidates can apply anytime throughout the year. They are exempted from the entrance test.
