Programs

The Botany Department offers Ph.D., Post Graduate and Under Graduate programs. The courses, number of seats and eligibility criteria for each course/program is given below:

Bachelor in Science (B.Sc.) - Botany

  • Duration: 3 years
  • Total number of seats: 32

Integrated B.Sc. | B.Ed. - Botany

  • Duration: 4 years
  • Total number of seats: 10

Eligibility :

Minimum 50% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination (Higher Secondary Science) without the mark in extra optional.

The above marks for eligibility are relaxed by 5% for SC/ST candidates.

A candidate has to secure exactly 50% or more than 50% to be eligible to apply for a subject. No fraction of percentage below 50% shall be taken into consideration. 

Master in Science (M.Sc.) - Botany

  • Duration: 2 years
  • Total number of seats: 24

Eligibility :

Admission into M.Sc. Botany requires at least a second class honours with minimum 50% marks in the Botany Honours / or a minimum 50% marks in Botany as elective along with 50% aggregate marks from a UGC/AICTE recognized institute at Graduation level.

Those who have passed the Three-year Degree Course Examination from a University/ an Institution (situated outside the state of Odisha), where the provision of teaching in Honours does not exist, will be eligible to apply for PG course provided they have taken the examination in the concerned subject with minimum of 4 papers/ 24 credits carrying at least 400 marks, subject to the fulfillment of the minimum eligibility condition as laid down from time to time by the University.

Ph.D. in Botany:

The seats are declared before admission depending on the vacancies available with the supervisors.

Self-Financing Program

Master in Science (M.Sc.) - Biotechnology

  • Duration: 2 years
  • Total number of seats: 24

Master in Science (M.Sc.) - Biochemistry

  • Duration: 2 years
  • Total number of seats: 24

Eligibility :

Admission into M.Sc. Biotechnology/ Biochemistry requires at least a second class honours with minimum 50% marks in the subject of Science/ (Biology as a subject at Intermediate level) along with 50% aggregate marks from a UGC/ AICTE recognized institute at Graduation level or with minimum 50% marks in the B.Tech., B.E., MBBS, B.Pharm. or BHMS from a UGC/ AICTE recognized institute at Graduation level.
