Prof. Mishra was born in the year 1952. He  obtained his M.A. from Ravenshaw College, under Utkal University in the year 1973 with First Class, having Linguistics as special studies, He was conferred D.Litt. by Utkal University in the year 1985. His area of post-doctoral research was ‘Application of Myth in Modern Odia Poetry.”  He joined as a faculty in the year 1974. After confirmation of OPSC, he continued to teach in different government colleges, such as Bhadrak College(1976-78), Ravenshaw College(1978-1990), JKBK College(1991-95) and finally at Ravenshaw College(1995-2008). He was selected by OPSC to Senior Administrative Cadre in the year 2008 and joined as Principal. He retired from government service on 31.01.2010. Again he joined as the Director, Language Technology Centre newly opened at Ravenshaw University in 2011 , having additional responsibility of being Head of the Department, Odia from 2011-2013. He continued to work as Visiting Professor of Odia from 2013 to 2014. He left for USA in 2014 to work on a project related to Language Technology of Indian Languages funded by Microsoft. From January 2021, he is serving as Visiting Faculty in Odia department.
