Year of Establishment: 1998

The Department opened in 1998 with MCA course. M.Sc. in Computer Science was introduced two years later in 2000, followed by B.Sc. in Computer Science. The Department of Computer Science is known for its prolific culture of academic exercises including regular workshops and seminars, project work and personality development sessions and extra-curricular activities such as quizzes, coding competitions and other fun events. Special attention is given to job and career aspirations of students who are guided towards taking competitive examinations such as GATE, NET and NIMCET as well as entry-level exams for PSUs. Every year a good number of students get placed in national firms, renowned MNCs and startups. Placement for B.Sc. students sets new records every year. The emerging fields of research in the department include Computational Linguistics, Cryptography and network security, Computational Finance, Network Science, Big data Analytics, Quantum Computing, Drone computing, Edge computing, Internet of Things, Computational Neuroscience, Bioinformatics, Machine leaning and Deep learning, and Software Defined Networks.
