About Department

To emerge as a center of excellence in the studies of Hindi with focus on innovative teaching, research and extension, activities for building a creative, enlightened and productive society.


Vision

The Department of Hindi was established in the year 1983 with the offering of Honours course in Hindi. The Postgraduate course in Hindi started a year later in 1984. The contribution of Prof. Tarini Charan Das “Chidanand ji” is unforgettable in this regard. The first girl student of the Department was Anjuman Ara, who is currently serving as Head of the Department. At present, the Department offers UG, PG, M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes. The Department regularly publishes course books for its students. It also maintains a wall magazine “Srujani” to showcase student accomplishments in Hindi literature.


Mission

  • To take Hindi beyond classroom, inculcate problem solving skills and sensitiveness among students for rational decision making.
  • To create and disseminate knowledge in Hindi through interdisciplinary research and creative enquiry for developing a dynamic, just and sustainable society.
  • To proactively participate in Hindi policy designing through consultancy, extension activities and intervention efforts.
