The Department of English has a unique and diverse tradition of research in various aspects of Language and Literature. Current research of the faculty includes Corpus linguistics, Translation Studies, Dalit literature, and American Literature.

The research projects currently active in the Department are as follows:

“Rare Odia Serials at the Utkal Sahitya Samaj” under the Centre for Translation and Digital Humanities (DHTraC). Funding assistance: South Asia Materials Project, Centre for Research Libraries, Chicago. Progress: Scheduled to begin in September 2021.

“Intellectual Histories of Bhakti: Concepts, Institutions and Practices in Orissa: 1500-2000”.  Funding assistance: ICSSR-IMPRESS. Progress: Nearing completion. 

“Literary Editing and Translation of Sarala Mahabharata” under the Centre for Odishan Studies. Funding assistance: OHEPEE, World Bank-assisted OHEPEE. Progress: Work in progress.
