Prof. Somnath Khaoash is an Professor at the Department of Geology. He has carried out his doctoral research at the CSIR- Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology, Bhubaneswar. He obtained Ph.D from Utkal University in the year 2000 under the supervision of Prof. A.K.Paul (Utkal University) and Dr Jay Krushna Mohanty (Chief Scientist, CSIR-IMMT).He has over 20 years of experience in teaching and research. His research interests include Ore Geology, Mineral economics, Mineral characterisation and beneficiation of low grade and off-grade ores. He has also contributed to the field of Hydrogeology and hydrogeochemistry. He has a number of papers in national and international peer reviewed journals. He has completed two research projects funded by different national agencies. Besides his contributions to teaching and research he is also involved in various administrative activities.
