Dr.Rajani Ballav Dash obtained his M.Sc. (Mathematics) degree from Utkal University, Vani Vihar, in 1975. After serving as a lecturer in Mathematics in Dhenkanal College, Dhenkanal, he Joined Department of Mathematics, R.E.C. Rourkela, in a research Project entitled “ Study of Crack Problems in Isotropic and Anisotropic Mediums” as a C.S.I.R. Research Fellow in 1977. After completing the Research Project, he joined  O.E.S. as a Lecturer in Mathematics in Bhadrak College, Bhadrak (1981). In 1982 he was awarded  Ph.D. degree in Science (Mathematics) from Sambalpur University. During his tenure in O.E.S., he served in different  Government Colleges of Orissa; Namely: Bhadrak College, Bhadrak(1981-1987); Dhenkanal College, Dhenkanal(1987-1998); Govt College, Phulbani (1998-2000); Ravenshaw College, Cuttack(2000-2005); Ravenshaw University (2005-2010 Dec);  S.C.S. (Autonomous ) college,Puri (2011-2012 Aug). He retired as Principal, S.C.S. (Auto) College, Puri. He was visiting faculty  in the Institute of Mathematics and Applications, Bhubaneswar during 2012-2017).He is continuing as Visiting Faculty in the Department of Mathematics, Ravenshaw University, Cuttack since 2013. His broad research areas are; Numerical Analysis, Operations Research, Differential Equations, Matrix Theory and Graph Theory. He has 44 years of Teaching & Research Experience in total, 24 years in Undergraduate Classes and 20 years in Postgraduate Classes. His Area of research is mainly Fracture Mechanics. His Expertise in Teaching includes Algebra, Analysis, Numerical Analysis, Operation Research, Functional Analysis, Differential Geometry and Operator Theory. His Research Interests are mainly Fracture Mechanics, Matrix Algebra, Numerical Analysis, Optimization (Numerical and theoretical) and Graph Theory. 13 students have been awarded Ph. D. under his guidance (7 Students in Numerical Analysis, 4 Students in Operations research, 1 Student in Graph Theory and 1 in Matrix theory). 15 students have been awarded M.Phil. degree under his supervision. He has 70 Publications in various National and International Journals. He has published 18 Books till date.
