Professor Niranjan Barik had his Masters in Political Science from Utkal University and his M.Phil in International Relations from SIS, JNU, New Delhi. He earned his Ph.D. in ‘Fresh Water Diplomacy in South Asia’ from Utkal University, working under the supervision of Prof K.P.Mishra of SIS, JNU.

Dr. Baik was a Visiting Scholar-in-Residence at the Indiana State University, the US in 2002. Later in 2007-08, he was a Visiting Fulbright Professor at Miles College, Birmingham, Alabama, USA. He had worked as a Research Attache for some time at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and has chaired panels, presented research papers, and delivered talks at major conventions/universities in India, the UK, USA, Canada, China, and Singapore.He was Professor & Head, Dept of Pol Sc, Khallikote Autonomous College, Berhampur before joining Ravenshaw  University as Professor of Political Science in 2010. He has served as  Visiting Professor/ Faculty in the Department of Political Science of Ravenshaw since 2013 with a short gap. He has contributed to national and international journals and to his credit has successfully guided six research scholars for Ph.D.
