Dr   Priyadarshi Kar hasbeen working as an Asst. Professor in the Dept of History, Ravenshaw University since March 2010. He graduated (in History-Hons) from B.J.B College, Bhubaneswar (1992) as a universityrank-holder with Distinction. Dr Kar obtained his MAdegree from Central University of Hyderabad (1994) and M. Phil degree from Centre for Historical Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi(1999) with Modern Indian History as specialization. He qualified UGC-NET (1996-97) and was awarded Ph.D from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, (2008).The title of his  thesis was: Osho Rajneesh: Life and Thought: A Psycho-historical Study of the Rajneesh Movement (1931-1990).

His areas of research interest include Modern and Contemporary Indian History, History of Religion & New Religious Movements, Psycho-history, Gender Studies, History of Tribes. An alumnus of Sainik School Bhubaneswar (1982-89), Dr. Kar later worked as a lecturer in National Defence Academy, Pune, and also served as Executive Editor in Spectrum Books, New Delhi, prior to joining Ravenshaw. Dr Kar has more than twenty years of work experience.
