The Department was established in 1998 with the MCA course. Later in the year 2000, the M.Sc. in Computer Science was introduced, followed by B.Sc. in Computer Science. The Department is known for its prolific culture of academic exercises including regular workshops and seminars, project work and personality development sessions and extra-curricular activities such as quizzes, coding competitions and other fun events. Special attention is given to job and career aspirations of students who are guided towards taking competitive examinations such as GATE, NET and NIMCET as well as entry-level exams for PSUs. Every year a good number of students from the department get placed in national firms, renowned MNCs and start-ups.
