She earned her Ph. D from Utkal University in 1997. Her area of research is Labour Economics, Rural and Agricultural Economics and Gender Studies. She has 20 years of experience in teaching and research. Her major areas of teaching are Development Economics and Indian Economy. Now she is engaged in doing research in Female agricultural Labour and Gender Disparity in Rural Labour Market.
