Her research focuses on coastal monitoring (mangroves, estuaries, intertidal, subtidal regions, harbors, and Bays) pertaining to the biodiversity of sea bed life and the impacts of pollution. The works culminated in over 20 research publications in peer-reviewed journals. She completed her Post-graduation with a specialization in Fisheries (University first) from Ravenshaw College, Odisha, and subsequently M.Phil and Ph.D. from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, under the supervision of Late Prof. A.V Raman of Marine Biology Laboratory, Andhra University. She worked on the hydrographic and benthic changes in relation to pollution in a boat harbor in Visakhapatnam. With a Fellowship award from the Commission of European Communities, she pursued her Doctoral research on the Benthic macrofauna of mangrove waterways and the bay environment of Kakinada East coast of India. The National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India selected her for participation in two (2015 and 2017) Arctic Expeditions to study climate change.
