The Department of Information Science and Telecommunications was established when Ravenshaw was not yet a university. It has crossed many milestones to reach this exalted position. The Department is completely dedicated to providing a top-line teaching and learning platform, offering high-quality education in Information Technology and Telecommunication Sciences to deserving students who equip themselves with the competencies necessary to achieve excellence in this ever-evolving academic scenario. The Department has left no stone unturned in preparing its students to articulate with the industries and corporate houses, thereby making them highly employable. It has an impeccable record in campus placements. As part of its continuous evolution to meet industry standards and demands, the Department of Information Science and Telecommunication has renamed the course B.Sc. Information Science and Telecommunication as Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) with a new and comprehensive curriculum. This new curriculum is designed to provide a robust foundation in computer applications, equipping students with essential skills and knowledge to excel in the dynamic IT industry. Starting from the academic year 2024, the BCA program aims to further enhance the employability and readiness of our graduates to meet the ever-changing demands of the corporate and technological sectors.

Eligibility

Pass in 10+2 in any stream with at least 50% marks and having Mathematics as one of the subjects in 10+2 level or equivalent.

Duration: 3 Years

Admission Process:

Ravenshaw University undergraduate admission process for all courses will be through a centralized admission process under SAMS, Government of Odisha. Candidates seeking admission into different courses of the University shall submit an online application through SAMS.

Vision

The Department of IST envisions having an R & D Wing for promoting and enriching “Beyond-Syllabus Scholarly Activities”….For this it intends to have its own Software Development Laboratory, which will cater the software needs of the University and provide Consultancy Services and Outsourcing. The department dreams of collaboration with Industries and Research Organisations thereby facilitating research activities and making the research outcome visible to the society a Research Journal is premeditated.

Maharaj K. C. Bhanj Deo

The department of chemistry was initially named as Mayurbhanj Chemical Laboratory. The red building with Victorian architecture, which houses the department still carries this name engraved on it. The Maharaja of the then princely state of Mayurbhanj, Sri Krushna Chandra Bhanja Deo, has generously contributed for the initial establishment of the laboratory.
