We are fortunate enough to be a part of the era of Information Science. All information is made available at our doorstep as and when we need. This is possible because of the strides made by Information Science. The Department of IST-ETC has a tremendous contribution to make in this regard. In the early 2000s, when self-financing courses were being gradually introduced into the University curriculum, Prof. Pranakrushna Kar, the then Principal of Ravenshaw College, envisioning the future prospects of a degree in Computer Science blended with Electronics and Telecommunication, approved the commencement of the the Department of Information Science and Telecommunication (IST) in the academic session 2002-03, with a UG programme in IST. PG teaching in ETC was introduced in 2010, and the Department of IST became the Department of IST-ETC. The course has been designed keeping in view the requirements of the industry and the corporate sectors.
