About Department

୧୮୬୮ ମସିହାରେ ସ୍ଥାପିତ ହୋଇଥିବା ‘କଟକ କଲେଜ’ ପରବର୍ତ୍ତୀ ସମୟରେ ରେଭେନ୍‌ସା ମହାବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟ ରୂପେ ପରିଚିତି ପାଇଲା ଓ ୨୦୦୬ ମସିହାରେ ତାହା ବିଶ୍ୱବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟର ମାନ୍ୟତା ଲାଭ କଲା । ଓଡ଼ିଶାରେ ଉଚ୍ଚଶିକ୍ଷା ପଦ୍ଧତିରେ ଭର୍ଣ୍ଣାକୁଲାର ଭାଷା ଭାବେ ଅଧ୍ୟାୟୀମାନଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଅଧ୍ୟୟନ ୧୯୦୨ ମସିହାରେ ରେଭେନ୍‌ସା ମହାବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟ ଜରିଆରେ ଆରମ୍ଭ ହୋଇଥିଲା । ପ୍ରଥମେ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଭାଷା ସାହିତ୍ୟ ପଢାଇବା ପାଇଁ ସଂସ୍କୃତ ପଣ୍ଡିତମାନେ ନିଯୁକ୍ତ ହୋଇଥିଲେ ।


Vision

The Department of Odia emphasizes to contribute to the Nation through quality education and research in Odia Language and Literature and also to become a valuable resources for Language, Literature and Culture as a centre of excellenc.


Mission

  • To folklore Museum.
  • Photo Gallery of Eminent Literary Personality.
  • Digitalization of Palm Leaf Manuscript.
  • To develop a publication house to publish rare manuscript and other literarily related books.
  • The department has a dream to prepare a literary encycloedia and Technical glossary for common use.
  • The preliminary ground wprk will come out soon after the supporting infrastructure is available.
  • Focusing in Comparative and Translation Studies.
  • Emphasis on Indigenous Studies.
