The Department of Geology came into being to provide trained manpower to the mineral based industries, the mining sector in the state and the different central organisations and PSUs. The Department envisions to attain excellence in teaching and research and make the Department a sought-after destination for students not only in the state but also in the country.

The mission of the Department of Geology is to provide high quality education to its students so as to enable them to grow and prosper to their optimum potential. It endeavors to impart quality education through classroom teaching reinforced by hands-on experience in the field, so that the students are able to gain knowledge in various functional areas and are industry ready.
