Dr. B. C. Das is in the position of Asst. Professor S-II in the Department of Education, Ravenshaw University since 2014. He has also served in Faculty of Education, Banasthali University, Rajasthan, Rani Bhagyawati Devi Women’s PG College, Bijnor and has been the Programme Incharge of IGNOU B.Ed Programme Study Centre. He did his Masters in History from Berhampur University and Master of Education from Devi Ahilya University, Indore. He has owned the distinction of being a National Research Fellow of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India at University of Allahabad under the supervision of Prof. P.K.Sahoo. He has been awarded D.Phil by University of Allahabad for his doctoral thesis ‘A Study of DPEP Intervention in Tribal Education at Primary Stage and its Effectiveness in Orissa’. His research focus includes Tribal Education, Development Education vis-a-vis Tribal Empowerment, Quality Management in Higher Education, Constructivist and digital pedagogy. Dr. Das has published seven books including six reference books and one textbook; published more than 40 research papers and articles; undertaken two research projects; guided M.Phil and PhD research; and innovated TPACK based K5 Instructional Model for Practicing Pre-service Teachers. He is currently engaged in a TPACK based Research Project funded under PMMMNMTT, Government of India.

Tribal Education 

Tribal Education remains the research focus in studies conducted and guided so far by Dr. Das with specific investigation in to the quality of tribal education at primary stage, participation of tribal community in school management furthering the studies on access, equity and quality issues in primary education among tribal community, which has been declared as one of the focused groups by UNESCO. 

Development Education

Dr. Das envisions his research prospect to span across some interrelated sub-areas of tribal education. The unifying theme is development education and empowerment of tribal community. Investigation on impact of development education on quality of tribal life has been undertaken under his supervision. 

Quality Management in Higher Education

Additionally his research interest covers the quality of higher education guiding a couple of  PhD level works investigating functioning of internal quality assurance cells in the context of nature of management, rural-urban locality and academic autonomy. Quality of Coursework for PhD in Education has been undertaken for investigation under his guidance. 

Costructivist and Digital pedagogy

Further, he has engagement in the area of digital pedagogy unifying the interrelated areas of school and teacher education. In this connection virtual effectivity of common knowledge construction model is under investigation under his guidance.

Project work

He is currently leading a Project on TPACK based practice teaching programme for science and social science pre-service teachers under PMMMNMTT Scheme of Ministry of Education, Government of India.
