Located on the eastern side and adjacent to the university main building on a sprawling 4-acre area, the East Hostel of the Ravenshaw University had its glorious inception in 1921 in a sylvan setting and peaceful atmosphere. It has enduringly been held as the cradle of the state’s leading elites and boasts of accommodating some of the greatest dignitaries and trendsetters of the country over its magnificent history spanning across a century.
East Hostel, which many of the boarders view as their second home, is not merely a hostel but a legacy in itself that epitomises the burning spirits of politics, literature, science, administration and culture and stands high throughout different hurdles and adversities throughout the years. The residents have traditionally been exceedingly cosmopolitan, virtually representing every part of the diverse Indian social and cultural life.
